We haven’t given up yet, a few venue issues are holding us back but there should be news very soon!
#26.5 Aftermath

26.5 went back to the basics, a casual LAN without all the tournaments. This pushed a few of the casual games out more. Naming a few i saw: Booster Trooper, Multi Theft Auto (a multiplayer mod for GTA: San Andreas) and Trackmania. All were good fun.
A favorite was definitely Call of Duty 4, I expect to see this played more at future LAN’s.
Topping off at about 24 attendee’s it was the prefect size for the games played, with everyone in the same game there was a great atmosphere.
All and all, it was a great LAN. If you have any suggestions for next time, please let us know on the forums!
Special thanks go out to Shane and Jan for the gigabit equipment and Jamie for the pizza run, much appreciated guys!

26.5 – The filler

With X-LAN creeping up and other LAN’s going wild we have decided to push #27 back to a more suitable date where it will not clash with any other events.
So #26.5 was created to be the filler in between, for those not going to X-LAN.
It will be a casual LAN, no tournaments, nothing too special, just simple LANing fun.
Here is the details:

Dates: 9th – 10th of July
Times: 6pm (Friday) – 6pm (Saturday)
Seats: 70+
Cost: $15 (at the door). For this event it includes internet and gigabit where available.

Got-LAN Live:
Got-LAN live is our approach to getting out and managing news, events and live servers during the LAN.
It is split into 3 parts:
News: This will hold all the latest announcements for the LAN, during the LAN.
Events: This will hold all the information for our official events as well as sign up’s.
Live Games: The name says it all. It will show all the live servers on the network announced by anyone at the LAN! Anyone will be able to post their server into this page.
All this together will hopefully make it easier for attendees to see whats going on and get gaming quicker. It will also help with management making tournaments a much more seamless process.
You will get access to it straight from www.got-lan.com during the LAN via the Live tab.
Internet:
We have recently purchased a new server dedicated to traffic monitoring and management. This will allow much more unrestricted internet access for its intended purposes while at the same time making sure we more efficiently manage traffic and block downloads.
Though please do note:
We have the internet for low bandwidth applications ONLY. This includes the likes of steam authentication, steam chat, MSN and checking your emails.
It is NOT for online gaming (currently) or downloading. This includes running your torrents. Make sure you have no downloads running before you leave to our LAN. If you are caught downloading you will be kicked out and BANNED from future Got-LAN’s.
Steam:
Please make sure all your games are up to date before you leave. We have internet for steam authentication but it is NOT for updating.
R16:
Due to legal reasons we are a R16 event.
Alcohol Free:
Due to the nature of Got-LAN’s and there being minor’s around we are an alcohol free event.
Paypal:
If you prepay via paypal we will need your email address when you attend the event.
Also make sure you sign up before you pay (though this is not overly important).
